City of Somerville, Massachusetts City Council City Council Caucus Meeting Minutes 6:30 PM Tuesday, November 22, 2022 The meeting was held in the City Council Committee Room and was called to order by the City Clerk at 6:33PM. 1. CALL TO ORDER Willie Burnley Jr. Kristen Strezo Jake Wilson Matthew McLaughlin Jefferson Thomas (J.T.) Scott Ben Ewen-Campen Jesse Clingan Beatriz Gomez Mouakad Lance L. Davis Judy Pineda Neufeld Present: Charlotte Kelly Absent: 1.1. Call of the Roll. Roll Call (ID # 22-2002) PLACED ON FILE RESULT: 2. ELECTION OF A PRESIDENT FOR 2023 2.1. Election of a President of the 2023 City Council (nonbinding vote). Election (ID # 22-2003) Councilor McLaughlin nominated Councilor Ewen-Campen for President. Councilor Clingan seconded. There being no other nominations, Councilor Scott moved to close nominations and the motion passed on a roll call vote of 10 in favor (Burnley, Strezo, Wilson, McLaughlin, Scott, Ewen-Campen, Clingan, Gomez Mouakad, Davis, Pineda Neufeld), 0 opposed, and 1 absent (Kelly). The roll call to select a President indicated 10 Councilors supporting Councilor Ewen-Campen and 1 absent. PLACED ON FILE RESULT: 3. ELECTION OF A VICE PRESIDENT FOR 2023 Page 1 of 2
City Council Caucus Meeting Minutes November 22, 2022 3.1. Election of a Vice President of the 2023 City Council (nonbinding vote). Election (ID # 22-2004) Councilor Gomez Mouakad nominated Councilor Pineda Neufeld for Vice President. Councilor Strezo seconded. There being no other nominations, Councilor Scott moved to close nominations and the motion passed on a roll call vote of 10 in favor (Burnley, Strezo, Wilson, McLaughlin, Scott, Ewen-Campen, Clingan, Gomez Mouakad, Davis, Pineda Neufeld), 0 opposed, and 1 absent (Kelly). The roll call to select a Vice President indicated 10 Councilors supporting Councilor Pineda Neufeld and 1 absent. PLACED ON FILE RESULT: 4. ADJOURNMENT Councilor McLaughlin moved to adjourn and Councilor Clingan seconded. The motion was approved on a roll call vote of 10 in favor (Burnley, Strezo, Wilson, McLaughlin, Scott, Ewen-Campen, Clingan, Gomez Mouakad, Davis, Pineda Neufeld), 0 opposed and 1 absent (Kelly).
