City of Somerville, Massachusetts City Council Licenses and Permits Committee Meeting Minutes 6:00 PM Wednesday, May 8, 2024 The meeting took place virtually via Zoom and was called to order at 6:01 PM by Vice Chair Mbah and adjourned at 6:08 PM on a roll call vote of 2 in favor (Councilors Ewen-Campen and Mbah), none against and 1 absent (Councilor Burnley). Chair Mbah reported that Councilor Burnley was unable to attend this meeting due to a prior commitment. Others present: Michael Potere – Licensing Operations Manager, Peter Forcellese – Legislative Clerk. Roll Call City Councilor At Large Wilfred N. Mbah and Ward Three City Councilor Ben Ewen-Campen Present: City Councilor At Large Willie Burnley Jr. Absent: 1. Approval of the Minutes of the Licenses and Permits Committee Meeting of March 27, 2024. Committee Minutes (ID # 24-0411) ACCEPTED RESULT: City Councilor At Large Mbah and Ward Three City Councilor Ewen-Campen AYE: City Councilor At Large Burnley Jr. ABSENT: 2. Public Hearing 2.1. New Garage License, Mercedes Benz of Boston, 161 Linwood St, 0 vehicles inside, 25 vehicles outside for mechanical repairs, auto body work, and spray painting, Mon-Fri: 8am-6pm, Sat:; 8am-2pm, Sun: closed. License (ID # 24-0549) Chair Mbah opened the public Hearing. There were no speakers for nor against the item. The Public hearing was closed. Councilor Ewen-Campen asked Mr. Potere if this was for a new garage license or if it was a change to an existing license. Mr. Potere stated that this item was put forward to add spray painting to an existing garage license. By Councilor Burnley Jr. That the Director of Economic Development update this Council on efforts taken to inform relevant business owners about the newly implemented closed captioning ordinance.
