City of Somerville, Massachusetts City Council City Council Caucus Meeting Minutes 6:30 PM Tuesday, November 26, 2024 The meeting was called to order at 6:33 PM by the City Clerk. 1. CALL TO ORDER Present: Willie Burnley Jr. Wilfred N. Mbah Kristen Strezo Matthew McLaughlin Jefferson Thomas (J.T.) Scott Ben Ewen-Campen Jesse Clingan Naima Sait Lance L. Davis Judy Pineda Neufeld Absent: Jake Wilson 1.1. Call of the Roll. Roll Call (ID # 24-1639) PLACED ON FILE RESULT: 2. ELECTION OF A PRESIDENT FOR 2025 2.1. Election of a President of the 2025 City Council (nonbinding vote). Election (ID # 24-1640) Councilor Davis nominated Councilor Pineda Neufeld for President. Councilor Ewen-Campen seconded. Councilor Burnley nominated Councilor Davis for President. Councilor Scott seconded. There being no other nominations, Councilor Ewen-Campen moved to close nominations. Councilor McLaughlin seconded, and the motion passed on a roll call vote of 10 in favor (Burnley, Mbah, Strezo, McLaughlin, Scott, Ewen-Campen, Clingan,Sait, Davis, Pineda Neufeld), 0 opposed, and 1 absent (Wilson). The roll call to select a President indicated 7 Councilors supporting Councilor Pineda Neufeld (Strezo, McLaughlin, Ewen-Campen, Clingan, Sait, Davis, Pineda Neufeld) and 3 Councilors supporting Councilor Davis (Burnley, Mbah, Scott), with 1 Councilor absent (Wilson). Election (ID # 24-1641) Councilor Pineda Neufeld nominated Councilor Davis for Vice President. Councilor Ewen-Campen seconded. Councilor Sait nominated Councilor Mbah for Vice President. Councilor Scott seconded. There being no other nominations, Councilor Scott moved to close nominations. Councilor Pineda Neufeld seconded, and the motion passed on a roll call vote of 10 in favor (Burnley, Mbah, Strezo, McLaughlin, Scott, Ewen-Campen, Clingan,Sait, Davis, Pineda Neufeld), 0 opposed, and 1 absent (Wilson). The roll call to select a Vice President indicated 6 Councilors supporting Councilor Davis (Strezo, McLaughlin, Ewen-Campen, Clingan, Davis, Pineda Neufeld) and 4 Councilors supporting Councilor Mbah (Burnley, Mbah, Scott, Sait), with 1 Councilor absent (Wilson). PLACED ON FILE RESULT: 4. ADJOURNMENT Councilor Clingan moved to adjourn and Councilor Davis seconded. The motion was approved on a roll call vote of 10 in favor (Burnley, Mbah, Strezo, McLaughlin, Scott, Ewen-Campen, Clingan, Sait, Davis, Pineda Neufeld), 0 opposed and 1 absent (Wilson)The meeting was adjourned at 6:39 PM.
