City of Somerville, Massachusetts City Council Licenses and Permits Committee Meeting Minutes 6:00 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2026 This meeting was held via Zoom and was called to order by Chair Hardt at 6:02 p.m. and adjourned at 6:14 p.m. on a Roll Call Vote of 3 in favor (Councilors Davis, Wheeler, Hardt), 0 opposed. Others present: Michael Potere – Assistant City Clerk. Roll Call Ward Six City Councilor Lance L. Davis, City Councilor At Large Ben Wheeler and Ward Seven City Councilor Emily Hardt Present: 1. Approval of the Minutes of the Licenses and Permits Committee Meeting of April 8, 2026. Committee Minutes (ID # 26-0641) ACCEPTED RESULT: Ward Six City Councilor Davis, City Councilor At Large Wheeler and Ward Seven City Councilor Hardt AYE: 2. Eversource applying for a Grant of Location to install 318 feet of conduit in Kent Street and Somerville Avenue, from existing Manhole 14831 to point of pickup at 22 Kent Street, and additional conduit from Manhole 14831 to an existing Manhole 8634. Grant of Location (ID # 26-0525) CONDITION: That pole 191/0, at the corner of Somerville Avenue and Kent Street, be repaired. Chair Hardt stated that a public hearing was conducted on this item during the April 9, 2026 City Council meeting and it was sent to this Committee for further discussion. Jacqueline Duffy, representing Eversource, stated that she was contacted by Councilor Scott who had concerns about double pole, and she visited the site and observed the pole referenced, pole 191/0, which is not directly related to this item, and noted that it was dangerously leaning and that the pole will be replaced, adding that the replacement itself will require an outage in the area. Ms. Duffy added that the replacement of pole 191/0 will require a temporary double-pole to allow for the other utilities connected to it to remove or adjust their wires. Chair Hardt moved to condition the license: That pole 191/0, at the corner of Page 1 of 2
