Alderman Heuston suggested that there be spot checks to ensure that the number of allowed vehicles is not exceeded. Alderman Heuston also requested that ISD determine if the cars next door are for the auto shop. The item was approved conditioned upon visits from ISD and the Police. Members would like all parties to attend the meeting to discuss the vehicle lift for the auto shop. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 199819: Renewing Lodging House License, Tufts University, 100 Talbot Ave. Representatives from the Somerville Police Department, Tufts Police Department and Tufts were present. Members were told that there are a high number of police calls; one being for an overdose and some others for alcohol-related issues. The RA’s at Tufts know to call Tufts Police in the event of alcohol-related issues. Chairman Sullivan reported that he had spoken with Somerville Deputy Chief Paul Trant about renewing the license. There are 154 residents in this hall comprised primarily of a mixture of freshmen and sophomores. The item was approved subject to communication between SPD Deputy Chief Trant and Tufts Police and also to receipt of a report on the number and type of incidents reported from that location.
