Document List: • None Approval of the October 6, 2015 Minutes RESULT: ACCEPTED 199724: That the Chief of Police and the Chief Fire Engineer appear before the Committee on Public Health and Public Safety to discuss concerns regarding #198703 and #199522 for public safety at Assembly Row and citywide. A consulting group is currently working on a study to address this issue and Mr. Boukili informed the members that it should be completed by the beginning of the year. There was also a discussion regarding mutual aid among communities. Alderman Connolly's motion that Matrix Consulting appear before the Public Health and Public Safety Committee, upon completion of their study, to report their findings regarding the status of the city's public safety, was approved. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 199948: That the Chief of Police provide this Board with a list of all notices sent to

RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 199949: That the Chief of Police order directed patrols to monitor compliance with the STOP signs at Jacques Street and Edgar Avenue, and at Heath Street and Edgar Avenue. Mr. Boukili reported that this has been handled. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 199977: That the Chief Fire Engineer inspect 34 Chetwynd Road and 146 Curtis Street for upholstered furniture kept on porches. This matter has been addressed. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 199981: That the Supervisor of Inspectional Services inspect 134 Professors Row for an open trash dumpster with overflowing trash, and take appropriate action. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 200041: That the Director of Traffic and Parking and the Chief of Police insure that whenever a sidewalk is closed due to construction – especially near a school -- that there be a clearly-marked crosswalk or a police detail, for pedestrian safety. Mr. Boukili described the traffic management procedures and also discussed emergency procedures. Chairman Connolly spoke about the DPW regulations pertaining to utility company work. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 198097: That the Director of SPCD update this Board on its public education campaign concerning appropriate bicycling in central business districts. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 199355: That the Administration institute a plan to notify and update affected residents during water main breaks, distribute bottled water to them, and check on their well-being. Mr. Boukili stated that an emergency plan is in place. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 200126: That the Supervisor of Inspectional Services address this Board on dumpster

Mr. Boukili stated that a list would be submitted and that Mr. Smiljic would report to the committee. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 192737: That this Board’s Committee on Public Health and Safety arrange for representatives of Riverside Community Care aka Somerville Mental Health Association, to appear before the Committee to explain where the programs are and how the City can assist them. A representative will be present at the next meeting of the committee. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 198702: That the State Delegation secure the funding and achieve the installation of sound proof barriers along I-93, which would curb fine particle pollution. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 198956: That the Administration develop with this Board a strategy to analyze the increasing use of Runway 33L at Logan Airport and document the adverse noise impacts. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 199054: MA DOT responding to #198702 re: noise and pollution barriers along I-93. RESULT: PLACED ON FILE 199100: That this Board supports the efforts of the Logan Community Advisory Committee and requests that the FAA re-examine its Runway 33L policies to reduce noise complaints. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 199520: That the Administration prioritize a public health initiative to control the opiate abuse epidemic, including nearby health and educational institutions and any other available resources. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 199589: That the Department of Public Utilities investigate and take appropriate actions against electricity companies that use deceptive sales tactics. Mr. Boukili stated that the DPW has responded to and addressed this issue.

RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 199793: MA DPU Chairman responding to #199589 re: addressing deceptive sales practices used by some electricity companies. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 199968: That the Commissioner of Public Works clean in front of the businesses along Broadway, and that the Supervisor of Inspectional Services reinforce the necessity of businesses to clean up in front of their properties. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 200053: That the Director of Traffic and Parking and the Chief of Police cite illegally parked delivery trucks on Winter Street. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 200058: That Chief of Police order directed patrols to Somerville Avenue between Kirby Place and Hawkins Street during early evening hours and on weekends, to deal with unruly citizens bothering pedestrians walking to Union Square. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 200074: That the Administration update the Committee on Public Health and Safety monthly on data for Logan Airport Runway 33L, and that the City engage Wig Zamore and communicate with officials from Cambridge and other communities on this matter. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 200075: That the City Solicitor provide this Board's Committee on Public Health and Safety with a listing of all ordinances and traffic regulations regarding bicycles. Mr. Boukili stated that the information has already been submitted. He will have the info emailed to members. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE
