The committee was told that the business has corporate and local fundraising activities and that it would recruit employees locally. PUBLIC HEARING re: #200408 - Webster Auto Sales Mr. Long read an email from Jonathan Gillen requesting that no licenses or permits be granted to the owners of 61 Prospect Street. Alderman Heuston commented that this area has always been a troubled spot and that ISD should consider the feedback from one of the neighbors in their review of the property. PUBLIC HEARING re: #200407 - PJ's Motorcars Peter Piartidosi, from PJ's Motorcars, appeared before the committee. Mr. Long read an email, (from a person who was not able to attend tonight's public hearing), about this business violating the law. Pictures were also shared showing cars parked on the bike lane. The business owner distributed a layout of the property. Resident Paul Driscoll spoke about the lack of a clear pathway last winter as the business had not shoveled or cleared ice from its sidewalk. Alderman McLaughlin said there were cars on the sidewalk. Alderman Heuston pointed out that it's hard to tell the difference between what is considered the business’s property on the map the owner distributed to the committee, as there is no indication of where the property line ends. Alderman Connolly suggested marking where the private property ends and what is considered public property. Alderman Ballantyne noted that the owner had been in violation of the conditions of his permit for a while with more than four cars on the lot. Chairman Sullivan reported that there is a senior center, a library and a school very close to the property and feels that there is a safety concern for the community, therefore he cannot support increasing the number of vehicles to 6. Alderman Heuston’s motion, that the Supervisor of Inspectional Services inspect the property at 161 Broadway to ascertain the number of vehicles that should be allowed outside this establishment so as to not impede on public safety, was approved. The business owner stated that he feels the neighborhood has changed and that he wants to change with it and he welcomes the support and feedback from the Ward 1 Alderman to help with making changes. The petitioner withdrew his application without prejudice. 199223: Renewing Garage License, Dewire Family Trust, 381 Washington St. RESULT: APPROVED 199224: Renewing Garage License, Dewire Family Trust, 387 Washington St. RESULT: APPROVED 199225: Renewing Garage License, Dewire Family Trust, 147 Beacon St. RESULT: APPROVED
