Document List: • Proposed Ord Recreation (with 200307) Approval of the October 29, 2015 Minutes RESULT: ACCEPTED Approval of the November 19, 2015 Minutes RESULT: ACCEPTED 197626: That the City Solicitor appear before this Board's Committee on Confirmation of Appointments to discuss the hiring of a Director of Recreation and Youth. The committee discussed the process for hiring/approving a Recreation Director. Chairman Rossetti said that she does not want to take power away from the Recreation Commission and Alderman McLaughlin stated that he recalled previous action that took the authority away from the Commission and left it with the Board of Aldermen, so that there would not be two approving authorities. Mr. Boukili clarified the matter by informing the members that, with the proposed ordinance, the Commission is not the appointing authority and that the BOA would

Alderman White suggested that the Recreation Commission be allowed to weigh in on the matter and he recommended holding a public hearing on the issue. Alderman Niedergang expressed concern about the delay that a public hearing would cause. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 198414: Requesting approval of an Administrative Code pursuant to the City Charter. Mr. Boukili said that this would be addressed at the December 10th BOA meeting. RESULT: PLACED ON FILE 199553: Requesting revisions to the City Charter and Ordinances to adjust the threshold for written contracts to align with MA General Law. RESULT: PLACED ON FILE 199726: Requesting amendments to Ordinance 2-369 to align the threshold for written contracts with MA General Law. RESULT: APPROVED 199727: Requesting an amendment to the City Charter to align with a related proposed revision to the City Ordinances and with MA General Law regarding written contracts. RESULT: APPROVED 200305: That the Director of Recreation and Youth and the Mayor’s Aide appear at the next meeting of the Legislative Matters Committee to discuss the hiring for the position of Director of Recreation and Youth. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 200307: That the City Solicitor prepare and forward to the Board of Aldermen and the Recreation Commission, an amendment to the Code of Ordinances to allow for Board of Aldermen approval of new hires for the position of Director of Recreation and Youth. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED
