Document List: • Webster Auto (with 200408) Approval of the December 2, 2015 Minutes RESULT: ACCEPTED 2. PUBLIC HEARING: 200564 - Mystic Auto Sales, Used Car Dealer's License The applicant appeared before the committee and was questioned about the hours of operation and video equipment for security. Chairman Sullivan said he lives near the establishment and the applicant seems to keep the property clean. He has no issues with the applicant. There is a second license for the garage. 3. PUBLIC HEARING: 200616 - Alewife Automotive, Amend Used Car Dealer's License The applicant was unable to appear at this meeting due to a family emergency. The application is to increase the number of cars on the lot to 5. Resident Dennis Geller, who lives a block away from the business, stated that this business is an amazing service center whose owners take incredibly good care of their customers. Licenses and Permits Committee Page 2 of 3 Printed 2/11/2016 and Jeanne Dumas spoke against the application, citing the number of cars on the property; which they say numbers at least 50. 200408: New Used Car Dealers License Class 2, Webster Auto Sales, 61 Prospect St., 0 cars in, 22 out, Mon-Fri 9AM-7PM, Sat 9AM-3PM. The owner of the property and two applicants appeared before the committee. Alderman Heuston stated that the lot is very full and is on a dangerous corner. Currently, there is no space for customers to park and check out cars on the lot. Mr. Smith provided ISD and the City Clerk with information on the research he did, indicating that there could be 18 cars on the lot. Ms. Rinfret provided information of the number of tickets written for this site. Mr. Smiljic recommended no more than 15 cars on the lot. The item was approved with the condition that the city’s Traffic Engineer work with the business owner on a design to delineate the isle for a 15 car lot. RESULT: APPROVED WITH CONDITIONS 200415: MA Office of Consumer Affairs submitting Lemon Law Sticker Audit results for American Auto Gallery, 682 Mystic Ave. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 200426: Submitted by Eversource (NStar Electric) to install 93 feet of conduit in Somerville Avenue from Manhole #8639 to private property at 508-510 Somerville Avenue. Jacqui Duffy appeared on behalf of Eversource. RESULT: APPROVED 200452: That the Supervisor of Inspectional Services inspect 61 Prospect Street to determine the proper number of vehicles for the lot. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 200453: That the Director of Traffic and Parking report any violations pertaining to the business at 61 Prospect Street to the Committee on Licenses and Permits. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 200454: That the Supervisor of Inspectional Services ascertain the appropriate number of vehicles to be stored on the lot at 161 Broadway so as not to impair public safety. Mr. Smiljic recommended that no cars be stored outside the buidling. Chairman Sullivan will review this matter with the ward alderman.

RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 200564: New Used Car Dealer's License Class 2, Mystic Auto Sales, 712 Mystic Ave, 0 cars inside, 10 outside. RESULT: APPROVED 200616: Amending Used Car Dealers License Class 2, Alewife Automotive, 395 Alewife Brook Pkwy, increasing to 5 cars outside. Alderman Heuston noted that Alderman Ballantyne informed her that she is against this request and that the business is in violation of their current permit. Alderman Heuston pointed out that the committee has been discussing this matter with the owner for about three years. Mr. Smiljic said that ISD inspectors spent numerous hours visiting the business, (about 20 times), and issued tickets for this establishment, directing them not to exceed the number of allowed vehicles. Alderman Connolly said that all businesses in the city must abide by the rules and he suggested getting the owner here immediately to discuss this matter. Chairman Sullivan said that the committee might want to set a "Show Cause" hearing and notify the applicant to appear to review the license for compliance. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE
