Green Cab Co, Inc. 600 Windsor Place Somerville, Ma 02143 [phone removed] March 22, 2016 City of Somerville Honorable Board of Alderman 93 Highland Ave Somerville, Ma 02143 Dear Honorable Board of Alderman: In an effort to keep up with innovation and technology in the transportation industry, we are purchasing new equipment with meter technology in each of our taxis. The current mobile data units are no longer compatible with the newer technology. The new units are TomTom Bridges. These units will be capable of operating with our dispatching software and mobile app. Our mobile app is a huge success and we hope to convert a large number of our calls using this technology to connect our drivers with our passengers as many of the ride share companies currently do. This equipment will also allow us to access a larger National App Network for taxis across the United States. We have been in contact with the administration and the weights and measures department. We have supplied all the technology and spec information to James Halloran and Steven Burgess. We are confident that the technology and due diligence of the Somerville Weights and Measure Department along with the Mass. State Division of Standards has concluded that this new technology meets all the standards to operate and be sealed accordingly. Rates are set by the City of Somerville and will continue to be sealed as they currently are being done with the older units. In addition these new units have regulator passwords and can access an audit trail of any trip and rate conducted on the meter. We respectfully ask that this board approve this device so that we may complete our purchase order and move forward with enhancing our system.
