CITY OF SOMERVILLE, MASSACHUSETTS KATJANA BALLANTYNE MAYOR DEPARTMENT of INFRASTRUCTURE & ASSET MANAGEMENT RICHARD E. RAICHE, PE, PMP, MCPPO BRIAN C. POSTLEWAITE, PE DIRECTOR OF INFRASTRUCTURE & ASSET MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING MELISSA WOODS. AICP DIRECTOR OF CAPITAL PROJECTS Department of Public Works Building, First Floor • 1 Franey Road • Somerville, Massachusetts 02145 [phone removed], Ext. 5400 Fax: [phone removed] www.somervillema.gov MEMORANDUM Date: 17 November 2022 To: Jake Wilson, Finance Committee Chair From: Richard E. Raiche, Director, Infrastructure & Asset Management RE: Item 22-1858 Requesting approval of a time-only contract extension with Stantec Consulting Services Inc. for Poplar Street Pump Station Design Services The Poplar Street Pump Station project is a multi-year design and construction project intended to fundamentally improve the City’s capacity to manage stormwater, alleviate flooding, reduce Combined Sewer Overflows, and enable transformative development vital to achieving the goals of SomerVision to increase housing, expand the commercial tax base and create jobs in Somerville. Additional information on the project can be found here: https://voice.somervillema.gov/poplar-artfarm The Administration will soon submit a funding request for the construction phase of the project. Due to the expected duration of the construction project, a time extension to our professional services agreement with Stantec, our engineer of record, will also be required to provide ongoing design and engineering services during construction. We therefore respectfully request the Committee’s approval of the submitted time-only contract extension to facilitate that administrative need in advance of the construction funding request.
