Document List: • OSPCD Memo (with 201310) • Proposed Ordinance (with 201310) Public Hearing: 201310 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE SOMERVILLE ZONING ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH A POWDERHOUSE SCHOOL REDEVELOPMENT DISTRICT. Members of the public spoke in favor of the proposal and praised the developers for their innovation and work with the community. Chairman Davis will keep the record open on this matter for additional comment until the close of business on June 16th.

Land Use Committee Page 2 of 2 Printed 6/9/2016 201310: Requesting an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance to establish a Powderhouse School Redevelopment District. Mr. Bartman gave a brief history of the property and said that the RFP was revised in 2015 after Tufts withdrew its proposal. The zoning proposal and its relation to the plans for the site were discussed, as were affordable housing and parking requirements. The current proposal will have a 28,000 square foot park and commercial use along Broadway. Alderman Rossetti commented that the developer went above and beyond in working with the community on this matter and Alderman Ballantyne expressed her support for the proposal. Alderman Lafuente commented on the project’s creative living space and Alderman Heuston expressed her pleasure regarding the 55+ senior housing included in the project. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE
