Alderman Lafuente and adjourned at 8:45 PM.

Health & Human Services Supplemental Materials
A moment of silence was observed for the victims of the shooting in Orlando, Fl.
FY-17 departmental budget review Health & Human Services:
Doug Kress presented the HHS budget request and highlighted some of the departments’
accomplishments during the past fiscal year. He also spoke about the re-alignment of a few
positions as well as the addition of a new social worker’s position.
Veterans’ Services:
Bryan Bishop presented an essentially level-funded budget request his department.

Council on Aging:
Cindy Hickey presented an essentially level-funded budget request for the Council on Aging and
spoke about the re-allocation of some positions. She spoke about some of the new initiatives
planned for the city’s seniors.
SomerPromise:
Doug Kress presented an essentially level-funded budget request for SomerPromise. Anna
Doherty explained “wrap around services” and “career track”.
Libraries:
Glenn Ferdman presented the budget request for the Libraries and spoke about increasing staff to
better serve the public.
Requests for information:
•
Alderman Connolly asked for written documentation of the increased funds being
allocated to Teen Empowerment.
•
Alderman Ballantyne asked for the amount of Medicaid reimbursements. (Mr. Kress said
that the amount received was $691,000.)
•
Alderman Rossetti asked for a clarification on the breakdown of line #527001, i.e., what
is the amount of monthly rent for the Council on Aging offices.
•
Alderman White inquired about the availability of non-English books for download. (Mr.
Ferdman will provide the answer.)
•
Alderman Rossetti asked that Mr. Ferdman review the data on pages 190-191 of the
proposed budget for accuracy.

Alderman White asked (Mr. Mastrobuoni) for a breakdown of new positions for FY-14,
FY-15 and FY-16
