1 CITY OF SOMERVILLE ORDINANCE NO. 2016- In Board of Aldermen REGULATING NOISE DISTURBANCES DURING CONSTRUCTION Be it ordained by the Board of Aldermen, in session assembled, that Chapter 9 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Somerville is hereby amended by striking the language contained in Section 9-116(3) and replacing it with the following: (3) Construction. Unless otherwise authorized by the enforcing authority, based on consideration of the factors contained in Section 9-114 of this Chapter, the public convenience and consultation with the Ward Alderman, it shall be unlawful to operate or permit the operation of any tools, piledrivers, hammers or equipment used in construction, drilling, or demolition work before 7:00 a.m. and after 7:00 p.m. on weekdays, or before 9:00 a.m. and after 7:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and anytime on Sundays, and state and federal holidays, such that the sound therefrom creates a noise disturbance.
