Approval of the February 2, 2017 Minutes RESULT: ACCEPTED 202285: Requesting the appointment of Lunita Johnson to the Fair Housing Commission. This item was withdrawn. RESULT: WITHDRAWN 202896: Requesting the appointment of Jessica R. Alter to the Commission for Women. Ms. Alter has lived in Somerville for 8 years and was looking for ways to give back to the community. RESULT: APPROVED 202897: Requesting the appointment of Kaitlyn P. Dmyterko to the Commission for Women.

RESULT: APPROVED 202898: Requesting the appointment of Stephanie Goodell to the Commission for Women. Ms. Goodell said that she wants to better understand city government. She is very interested in immigration, women issues, single mothers and understanding their needs. RESULT: APPROVED 202816: Requesting the appointment of Claudia DeAndrade to the Fair Housing Commission. Ms. DeAndrade is new to Somerville and is fluent in Portuguese, Creole and Spanish. RESULT: APPROVED 202817: Requesting the appointment of Richard Johnson to the Veterans Commission on Monuments, Memorials and Dedications. General Johnson was unable to attend tonight’s meeting due to a military deployment. RESULT: APPROVED 202818: Requesting the appointment of Elizabeth Minahan to the Veterans' Commission on Monuments, Memorials and Dedications. Ms. Minahan has been in Somerville for 3 years and is fluent in Japanese. Her training is with children and she volunteers at local schools. RESULT: APPROVED 202819: Requesting the appointment of Kevin Dickinson to the Veterans' Commission on Monuments, Memorials and Dedications. Mr. Dickinson served in the military in South Korea. He has been active in the Union Square community. RESULT: APPROVED 202820: Requesting the appointment of Norbert D'Amato to the Veterans' Commission on Monuments, Memorials and Dedications. Mr. D'Amato grew up in Somerville and has always had an interest in helping veterans. Presently, he facilities a men's group at the Council on Aging.

Mr. Maldonado served in the military and has lived in Somerville for 3 years. He is fluent in Spanish. RESULT: APPROVED 202890: Requesting the appointment of Mackenzie Richardson to the Police Reserve List. The candidate is currently working as a crime analyst for SPD and has worked for the MA State Police. RESULT: APPROVED 202891: Requesting the appointment of Justin Brown to the Police Reserve List. Mr. Brown has prior experience as a security guard. RESULT: APPROVED 202892: Requesting the appointment of Justin Buswell to the Police Reserve List. Mr. Busell has a B.S. in criminal justice. RESULT: APPROVED 202893: Requesting the appointment of Mark McLaughlin to the Police Reserve List. Mr. McLaughlin grew up in Somerville and is a product of the Somerville school system. He currently works as a street outreach coordinator. He was asked to introduce himself to the SHS headmaster and reach out to the students there to talk about his accomplishments and giving back to the Somerville community. RESULT: APPROVED 202894: Requesting the appointment of Sergio Costa to the Police Reserve List. Mr. Costa has an Associate’s degree in criminal justice and is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
