 IN THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN: _______________ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 15 OF THE SOMERVILLE ZONING ORDINANCES TO UPDATE THE PROJECT MITIGATION CONTRIBUTION FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING WHEREAS, the City seeks to address the continued challenge with providing affordable housing in Somerville; and, WHEREAS, Somerville has had an effective housing linkage program for many years; and, WHEREAS, the Somerville Zoning Ordinance recommends recalculating the linkage fees every three years; and, WHEREAS, the City conducted a Linkage Nexus Study that was completed in September 2017, and recommends increased and indexed fees; now, THEREFORE, be it adopted by the Board of Aldermen, in session assembled, that Article 15, Section 15.5 of the Somerville Zoning Ordinance is amended as follows: A. By changing the Project Mitigation Contribution for affordable housing from $5.15 to $8.15. B. By adding a sentence at the end of Section 15.5 as follows: The Project Mitigation Contribution shall be adjusted on March 1st of each year, beginning on March 1, 2019, by adjusting the fee based on the change in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers over the previous calendar year.
