CITY OF SOMERVILLE MAYOR’S ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 2021-A01 In City Council June 24, 2021, #205501 THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE SHALL APPOINT SCHOOL PHYSICIANS AND NURSES Appointment of School Physicians and Registered Nurses I. Purpose. The purpose of this Administrative Order is to re-organize the Board of Health and the Department of Health and Human Services by assigning the following function: Assignment and appointment of school physicians and registered nurses from the Board of Health to the School Committee. II. Re-Organization. As provided in Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 71, Section 53, the School Committee shall appoint one or more school physicians and registered nurses, shall assign them to the public schools within its jurisdiction , shall provide them with all proper facilities for the performance of their duties and shall assign one or more physicians to the examination of children who apply for health certificates required by section eighty-seven of chapter one hundred and forty-nine.
