RE: 22-0297: That the Commissioner of Public Works update this Council on the replacement of
trash bins due to rodent activity.
The Department of Public Works has ordered Big Belly enclosed trash and recycling barrels to
replace existing open-top barrels in Glenn Park, Florence Park, Lincoln Park, Perry Park,
Lexington Park, the Community Path, and Corbett-McKenna Park. We anticipate delivery and
deployment of the units this spring.
Additionally, we have scheduled a meeting late February with the representatives of Big Belly to
plan for the next round of park and playground barrel replacement. We will work with
Environmental Health Coordinator Colin Ziegler to identify the next priority parks and to
estimate cost for expansion of the program.
