The Carrot Project, Boston, MA Founder and Executive Director, 2005–2021 Founded a regional nonprofit to increase the economic viability of farm and food enterprises, in New England and New York’s Hudson Valley, through business advising, access to capital, research, and education. • Designed and directed multi-state research projects that led to business development services supporting 400 agricultural businesses annually. • developed metrics leading to clients’ positive financial outcomes • provided 1:1 business assistance • developed two trainings to build financial management skills and confidence • established loan programs for limited resource borrowers, with a lending capacity of $1M, by partnering with social-impact investors • Co-founded a 37-stakeholder alliance to increase resources for 1:1 business technical assistance • Worked with the 9 member Advisory Board to set strategic direction including realignment to support racial and economic justice. • Managed a staff of 6 plus multiple consultants • Maintained strong organizational fiscal health

Conservation Law Foundation, Boston, MA Vice President of Development, 2001–2004 Associate Director of Development, 1999–2001 Led all aspects of development and member communications, across five state offices, with 5-7 staff, to meet an annual $4M budget. • Built infrastructure and increased board and staff capacity, resulting in a campaign that quadrupled the endowment to more than $18 million • Launched a planned giving program leading, in two years, to more than 20 planned gifts totaling more than $1M • Developed and tested targeted state efforts that increased membership by 14% • Worked closely with six board chairs and five state directors to develop fundraising boards resulting in 100% board giving and a 19% increase in major gifts MassRecycle (The Massachusetts Recycling Coalition), Boston, MA Executive Director, 1994–1999 Provided leadership for staff and coalition partner organizations collaborating on MassRecycle’s networking, communications, advocacy, and educational efforts. • Built MassRecycle from a volunteer organization to the second largest state recycling organization in the US • Developed programs reaching all 351 towns in the state • Increased membership by 20% and launched six regional councils • Developed program and secured funding for a collaboration of four regional organizations to provide statewide recycling education to grades 1–6 • Led lobbying effort to double state funding for recycling programs • Started the award-winning Massachusetts Recycling Day The Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Working Group, Belchertown, MA Northeast Regional Organizer, The Campaign for Sustainable Agriculture, 1993–1995 In a nine-state region, organized nonprofits and activists to support sustainable agriculture in the 1995 Farm Bill. • Recruited and trained the first network in the Northeast to implement political- action strategies to support sustainable agriculture in federal legislation • Achieved the inclusion of substantial language in the 1995 Farm Bill supporting community food security, conservation programs, federal organic standards, and what would become the Northeast Dairy Compact EDUCATION Introduction to Regenerative Economics, Capital Institute Tufts University, Department of Urban and Environmental Policy Master of Arts in Environmental Policy, Thesis: Community Supported Agriculture in Massachusetts: Status, Benefits, Barriers Purdue University, Department of Biology, Bachelor of Science in (Cellular) Biology
