From: Ibrahim, Michael (ART) To: Gregory Jenkins Subject: CIP FY20 Grant Announcement Date: Tuesday, August 27, 2019 4:25:59 PM Dear Gregory Jenkins,   Today, the Mass Cultural Council released a spending plan for the FY20 fiscal year, based on an $18 million state appropriation, an increase of $2 million over FY19. While the Mass Cultural Council’s appropriation increased 12%, the Cultural Investment Portfolio received an overall increase of 20%, now totaling $6.1 million. This represents the largest increase in unrestricted operating grants to cultural organizations in recent years.   I am pleased to inform you that Somerville Arts Council has been approved for a Cultural Investment Portfolio, unrestricted operating support grant, in the amount of $11500.   Mass Cultural Council will invite grantees to celebrate these new grants alongside our partners in the state Legislature at public events across the Commonwealth this fall.  Stay tuned for a separate announcement with details on those events in September.  In the meantime, now would be a great time to send a note of thanks to your legislators, who make these annual grants possible.   Back to Basics with 'CIP 101' Webinar  What is the Cultural Investment Portfolio? Why does your organization get a grant from this Mass Cultural Council program? How is the grant calculated? What does your organization need to do to continue to receive funding? What program changes should you know about? Please join the CIP team on September 30 at 10am for a ‘CIP 101’ Webinar. This webinar is recommended for development staff, or other leadership staff (volunteer or paid) at Portfolio grantees - particularly if you are new in your responsibilities for grants, or you want to learn how the CIP fits into your overall revenue structure. Learn more about this session, and register.    Please let me know if you have any questions about your FY20 Cultural Investment Portfolio grant.  On behalf of everyone at the Mass Cultural Council, it is a pleasure to support the great work you do.   Sincerely, –Michael   Michael Ibrahim he/him/his Program Manager Cultural Investment Portfolio
