SomerVision Process Detail SomerVision 2040.com Launch - December 2018 Progress Report - December 2018 • This report was to share with people what has been accomplished since SomerVision 2030 started in 2010. It has an update on the numbers, policies, and programs etc. Employee Summit - December 2018 • This was an event to generate excitement amongst staff for SomerVision, ask for their help and feedback in making SomerVision 2040 even more actionable. SomerVision Committee - January 2019 • The 2010 SomerVision Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee was reconstituted as the SomerVision Committee or SVC. It is made up of 2030 members, new advocacy org's and constituencies, as well as those who applied via an open call. SomerVision 2040 Kickoff - January 2019 • This was a public presentation on the Progress Since 2010 Report and an activity based on the SomerVision values , SVC Mixer - February 2019 • At this point, the SVC had months' worth of hard work ahead. The purpose of this meeting was to start building relationships and team building prior to the conference. SomerSuppers - February to April 2019 • We asked SVC members to each host a SomerSuppers, and we also put a toolkit on line for other constituents to host their own. The work was summarized in the SomerSuppers Report. SomerStories - February to April 2019 • We gathered a collection of stories in written and video format to capture different aspects of the Somerville community in their own words.

SomerVision Conference - April 2019 • This two-day conference gave SomerVision Committee members and the public an opportunity to learn about specific topics related to City governance--like current policies about housing and how the municipal budget works--as well as start brainstorming on subject matter for the topic chapters. Forums These forums were designed to provide open-ended opportu nities for different communities to talk about the issues that affect them. In addition, a survey was released for non-english speakers. • Business Owners - April 11, 2019 (12 participants) • Council on Ag ing - April 11, 2019 (41 participants) • Commercial Property Owners - April 11, 2019 (8 participants) • Elderly Portuguese-speakers - May 23, 2019 (15 participants) • SCALE English Language Learners - May 31, 2019 (18 participants) • Portuguese Speakers forum with SomerViva - June 6, 2019 (10 participants) • Artists with the Somerville Arts Council - June 13, 2019 (24 participants) • Haitian Creole Speakers event - June 23, 2019 (12 participants) • Youth - July 31, 2019 (9 participants) SVC Integration Meeting - July 17, 2019 • At the recommendation of our Co-Chair's, we hosted a meeting with the captain and/or designee of each working group to discuss overlapping ideas of the topic chapters. SVC Working Group Meetings • May 13, 2019 o We gave a report of key and recurring themes we heard from community members during SomerSuppers and Forums o We gave a presentation on the history of and analysis of inequity in Somerville including implicit bias, redlining, and racial educational and income disparities o We began working on creating a framework to apply our va lues to the plan through an activity were SCV members suggested ideas and then reviewed those ideas through equity lenses

• May 29, 2019 o The main focus was to ensure everyone understood the tasks ahead of them and got to know their working groups, captains and staff captains o We gave the groups time to brainstorm ideas to jumpstart their chapters • June 11, 2019 o We reviewed the different sections we expected for the first topic chapter drafts including sections on equity issues o Working groups focused don drafting their chapter and collaborating with Health and Human Services staff to consider hea Ith lenses issues • August 14, 2019 o We discussed our progress on the SomerVision2040 document template and reviewed common themes we saw in the topic chapter first draft reviews (which were due July l) o We gave the groups time to discuss next steps to deliver the complete drafts for the October l deadline and helped them outline a plan to get there • September 16, 2019 o We recapped items from previous meeting and gave pointers on how to get over writer's block o Mayor Joe Curtatone came to thank the committee o We gave the groups time to discuss next steps to deliver the complete drafts for the October l deadline including assigning tasks and discussing their implementation priorities SomerVision Feedback Loop • Engagement with the SomerVision Card Game asked people, what should we measure over the next 20 years? o Seize the Summer (August 4, 2019) o An afternoon at Lincoln Park (August 15, 2019) o Mobile Market (all sites) (August 16, 17, 2019) o Union Square Farmers Market (August 24, 2019) o Riverfest {September 14, 2019) o Fluff Fest {September 21, 2019) o Ball Square Festival {September 22, 2019) o Gilman Square Block Party (forthcoming)
