PUBLIC EVENT/SPECIAL ALCOHOL LICENSE APPLICATION City of Somerville, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Application #: PEL20-000021 File #: 20-002344 Application for: Public Event, Special Alcohol, Malt Only Organization name: MSPCA-Angell Fast and Furriest 5K Event name: MSPCA-Angell Fast and Furriest 5K: Run, Walk, Wag Description: A canine-friendly 5K "run, walk, wag" race, which raises around $250,000 for animals in need in Massachusetts. Typically 2,000 humans and 1,000 canines attend, with vendor booths, food, and activities for all post-race. Location: The MSPCA Fast and Furriest 5K will start and finish at DCR Baxter Park at Assembly Row in Somerville. The race itself will run around the river. At the finish, we hope to serve beer to 21+ finishers in the ampitheater (which we will fence off). Date(s): 5/17/2020 Rain date(s): none Setup starts at (time): 6:00AM on May 16 Event starts at (time): 8:00am on May 17 Cleanup after the event ends at (time): 3:00pm on May 17 Event ends at (time): 1:00pm on May 17 Entertainment: We host canine contests from a stage post-race. Generally three contests (best trick, best kisser, best costume). Other than that, we play music on a speaker and let the attendees mingle. Temporary Structures: 10x10 tents for vendor booths, one 20 x 40 tent for registration, a small stage, fencing as needed for beer at finish line, many 6 foot tables. Attendees: Max attendance at one time: 2,000 Total people attending: 2,000 Maximum attendees accommodated: 2000 Total Somerville residents attending: 500 Attendee fees or suggested donations: $45 registration fee with option to fundraise What is your budget for this event: $75,000 Social or cultural benefits: This is one of the only races in the state where you can run with your dog! All dogs are welcome at the event. Financial benefits: We hope to have over 2,000 (human) attendees and their canine companions. Post-race, many of the attendees will peruse the shops and restaurants of Assembly Row.
