Due to risk to human health the EPA will be contributing approximately $3,000,000 in funding for their scope of clean up action, this project is both urgent and PSUF's top priority project. Once the remediation is compete, the new multi-use synthetic turf and sports lighting system will allow for an increased intensity of use of the field over traditional natural grass fields. With routine mantenance, the life expectancy of the project should be approximately 50 years. This project includes the environmental cleanup of the PCB contaminated soils under the existing Conway Park and the construction of a new U-14 multi-use synthetic turf field including two softball fields, an LED sports lighting system, and the redevelopment of the splash pad that will be removed to provide access for the remediation work.
