Somerville Community Safety Coalition (SCSC) Proposal Vision: To identify community based solutions for safety for all Somerville community members. Including primary prevention of violence, disenfranchisement, and discrimination; early identification of individual, family, and community needs and referrals to appropriate services; and ongoing follow-up with and for individuals, families, and communities within and around Somerville to ensure an integrated community based approach to safety. Goals: Stakeholders and Community Agencies will develop specific goals to support the vision of the SCSC by addressing specific gaps in services as identified by System Intercept Model evaluation. To develop and adhere to a rigorous and transparent self-evaluation process including opportunities for open community feedback (both anonymous and in person), collection of qualitative and quantitative data on all implemented proposals, and regular publication of SCSC meeting minutes and implementation results. First Steps: Agencies in the room (5-10min each); services provided, persons served, strengths, weaknesses, reason for joining in SCSC partnership/ goals Identify 1-3 priority common PD intercepts to move toward community based safety response (eg. Substance Use Disorder (SUD) crisis, Child Requiring Assistance (CRA), Mental Health (MH) crisis calls) Sequential Intercept Model (SIM map) identified priority intercepts. More info - Identify programs in the SCSC and in the community that provide services at each intercept - Identify overlaps in services provided - Identify existing collaborations - Identify service gaps Propose program to address service gap(s): - Draft a Request for Proposal (RFP) to address service gaps and send to community stakeholders (all RFPs will include a plan for evaluation in addition to the program proposal) - Review submitted RFPs in SCSC o SCSC will workshop with applicants to create a high quality proposed intervention(s) - Identify existing programs with capacity to implement new programming o Invite new community partners to SCSC if not currently participating o Identify program needs to implement proposal  Training needs  Funding needs  Somerville City allocated budget for funding  MA HHS/ BSAS, DPH, DHCD, etc. funding  Identify grant writing experts  Fundraising opportunities  Staffing needs  Collaboration needs - Identify any similar existing or past programs in other communities and reach out for advice, lessons learned, published works, and offer collaboration Implement Program to address service gap(s): - Implementing program will attend SCSC meetings to update coalition members on progress, successes, barriers, and needs - SCSC will provide assistance in evaluation of implemented proposal - SCSC will make evaluation data publically available and solicit community and participant feedback on the implemented proposal Evaluation of SCSC:
