Water Meter Replacement Program Water meters measure water usage across the City, which allows the Water & Sewer department to charge ratepayers accurately for water consumption and reduce water waste. The current AMI and the majority of the water meters in use have reached the end of their useful life and must be replaced. Purchase of over 14,000 water meters and automated reading system City-wide. Water meters will replace existing water meters that have reached the end of their useful life. At each meter, there is an auotmated reading device installed. The device sends a signal to 'repeater' towers that in turn send meter reads to a central computer system. Project includes both water meters and auotmated reader devices (often described as Advanced Metering Infrastructure, or "AMI"). Water & Sewer Department This project impacts the revenue of the entire department, which supports the entire Water & Sewer Capital Improvement Plan. Urgent New Project First
