This event is being held in collaboration with the City's Office of Sustainability and Environment and the Climate Coalition of Somerville. It will include gardening, nature, and art activities, with some participatory music and/or dance. It will also serve as the kick off for a series of events to convene climate activists and artists to create transformative collaborations.   Location: The Somerville Community Growing Center is an 11,000 sq foot city owned public space that is managed by the Friends of the Community Growing Center as an educational and cultural gathering space for the community. In addition to demonstration and food production gardens, the space includes a stage area and room to offer free cultural and educational events. Date(s): April 22nd   Rain date(s): April 29th Setup starts at (time): 11am   Event starts at (time): 1pm  Cleanup after the event ends at (time): 5pm   Event ends at (time): 4pm Entertainment: Possible local percussion group to kick off the event and potentially some dance performance by local artists. Temporary Structures: none, unless inclement weather requires 10x10 canopy, with weighted legs (in accordance with Union Square Farmers Market requirements for safety) Attendees:     Max attendance at one time: 100   Total people attending: 300     Maximum attendees accommodated: 200   Total Somerville residents attending: 275   Attendee fees or suggested donations: Free, donations welcomed.   What is your budget for this event: $200   Social or cultural benefits:  This event will connect residents with the Earth, with each other, the possibilities of being part of the local food system and understanding the biodiversity of Somerville and the role each of us can play in that. We are working to engage language guides/interpreters to assist Spanish and Portuguese speaking visitors to actively participate. Our outreach also includes organizations, such as Walnut St Center, that serve residents with disabilities.
