With upgrades to the sewer and drainage systems, the goal of this project is to reduce the volume of combined sanitary flows being treated by the MWRA, reduce risk associated with aging infrastructure, resolve existing system deficiencies, improve stormwater management, and improve the area's multi-modal transportation network. Supplemental appropriation request to fund 5164 General Fund. Will fund contractor's additional work related to contaminated soil removal, project delays, and extended overhead costs related to the streetscape construction portion of the Somerville Avenue Utility and Streetscape Improvements project. The SAUSI project encompasses a portion of Somerville Ave from Union Square to McGrath Highway, in addition to sections of adjacent side streets. The intent of this project is to separate combined sewers into two dedicated sewer and drain lines, upgrade the City's water, sewer, and drainage systems, and reconstruct the surface streetscape to include new ADA compliant sidewalks, new bicycle facilities, new green infastructure, and improved street lighting and traffic signalization. IAM - Engineering The SAUSI project is directly related to the Poplar Street Pump Station project (in design), the Spring Hill Sewer Separation Phase 1 project (in construction), Spring Hill Sewer Separation Phase 2B project, and Highland Avenue Reconstruction project. These projects, including SAUSI, make up the five-part Union Square Infrastructure Improvement program. Select Project Priority Modification to Existing Project Select Priority Order
