Let's join together for an epic day of celebration, community building and co-creation for the first annual Calvin Street Block party. This includes but is not limited to: -musical instruments for porch concerts (building on the momentum from porchfest the weekend prior) -performance art (flash mob, etc) Temporary Structures: Lounge chairs, blankets and furniture may be moved onto the street during the closure. Attendees:     Max attendance at one time: 99   Total people attending: 250     Maximum attendees accommodated: 350   Total Somerville residents attending: 200   Attendee fees or suggested donations: No fees but will encourage participants to donate to MAMAS (Mutual Aid Somerville and Medford) https://mutualaidmamas.com/   What is your budget for this event: $200   Social or cultural benefits:  the residents of Calvin street is a vital mixture of students, families and young professionals. We all get along, and there are pockets of friendly neighborly interactions, but this block party will serve the crucial role of fostering community and good vibes for Calvin street residents. Part of the Block party will be a series of "stations," where each house can offer their own food, music and arts+crafts workshops. We expect many from across somerville will join the festivities and become inspired by the creativity. A non-essential, one-way street near Beacon and Washington, Calvin is the perfect venue for a block party.   Financial benefits:  Several local businesses (Thai Hut, Katherine Small Gallery, Sweet Laundry) would receive a bump in customers due to the event.
