NICE showcases bands and artists of all genres of music, as well as a local vendor /makers market. The festival is put on by Get To The Gig Boston, a local promoter with over 10 years of experience booking local music, run by Alex Pickert, recipient of the Boston Music Awards Talent Buyer of The Year 2021 and 2022, as well and the booker for Crystal Ballroom and Somerville Theatre. This event is community-oriented, hence only booking local artists, and is meant to showcase the vast amount of talent the Boston area music scene has to offer. Public parking lot owned by the City of Location: Somerville adjacent to the vacated Walgreens We would like to reserve public lot adjacent to Date(s): Walgreens at 393 Highland Ave on July 26th for set up and host the festival on July 27th and 28th. Monday the 29th we would like to reserve as a clean-up date. 08/03/2024,08/04/2024 Rain date(s): 8am Setup starts at (time): 12pm Event starts at (time): 10pm Cleanup after the event ends at (time): 10pm Event ends at (time): Live amplified music and vendors at Entertainment: parking lot adjacent to the vacated Walgreens at 393 Highland Ave. We plan to get an SL100 mobil Temporary Structures: stage and a seasoned production crew, to run it, Other structures will include backstage area that is covered for gear storage / green room area for bands. We will also plan to have 10x10 tents for Box Office / Check-in as well as up to 15-20 10x10 tents for vendors /sponsors. We plan to have 2 bars set up for Beer/Wine - we are looking into tents/coolers for set up. Attendees: Max attendance at one time: 2000 per day Total people attending: 4000+ over the weekend Maximum attendees accommodated: 5000 Max over weekend Total Somerville residents attending: 1500+ Ticket Prices will Attendee fees or suggested donations: sold through niceafest.com and have festival-style pricing (multiple tiers ranging from $20 - $200 depending on Ticket Type) Ticket Types will include Early Bird, Advance, Single Day, and Multiple Day passes. $100,000 What is your budget for this event:
Exact ticket prices will be determined before the announcement of the event. Social or cultural benefits: NICE, a fest 2024 will feature over 100 local Somerville and Boston area bands and artists as well as 50+ local artists, makers, sellers, food vendors and more in our vendor market. This will be collaboration with a nonprofit, Calling All Crows The past 2 years we have held NICE, a fest in Davis Square inside of Crystal Ballroom and The Rockwell, as well as a free to the public Vendor market at Statue Park. This year we want to utilize all of our past venues and add an outdoor portion to the festival at the Parking Lot adjacent to the vacated Walgreens to make it the premier Somerville indie festival the city deserves! Financial benefits: In the past, NICE, a fest has brought out 2000+ people each year to Davis Square. By adding a larger outdoor element in 2024, we would be able to bring even more people to Davis Square to spend their money on all the incredible restaurants and businesses in the area, as well as the venues we will be working with - The Rockwell, Crystal Ballroom, Somerville Theatre and potentially also The Burren. We run targeted ads towards local music lovers, run press in local news outlets, and do a postering campaign around the greater Boston area. Food served? Yes We plan on having 2-3 food vendors that we will get approved through the City. Caterer used? No Alcohol served? Yes Alcohol to be served: Wine and Malt, Outdoors Public parking lot at 393 Highland Ave - We plan on using tents /coolers for serving. We will hire TIPS-certified bartenders to serve the beverages. We plan on having 2 bars at this event. Grill/open-flame device used? Yes TBD depending on the food vendors we obtain. Streets blocked? No Sidewalks blocked? Arrangements: Police Detail: Yes We are committed to working with all city departments to ensure this is a safe and fun festival for all! Has the event occurred in the last two years? Yes We have hosted NICE, a fest 2022 and 2023 in Davis Square at Crystal Ballroom, The Rockwell and Statue Park - 2024 will be our 4th year as a festival and the first one with an outdoor portion since our inception at Boynton Years in 2021. All Prior Dates: July 24, 2021 @ Boynton Yards July 28, 29, 30, 2022 in Davis Square - Crystal Ballroom / Rockwell / Statue Park July 20, 21, 22, 23, 2023 in Davis Square - Crystal Ballroom / Rockwell / Statue Park Approved By: CS Mayor, Approved with Conditions This is approved under the condition that this moves to the former Rite Aid Lot, that a nonprofit cosponsor is added as discussed, and outside music is approved Saturday until 10 p.m. and Sunday only until 8 p.m. (preferably 7 p.m.). A Somerville Fire Detail will be required due to the anticipated crowd size. If you are cooking with propane, a flammable permit from Fire Prevention is needed if there will be more than 42 pounds of propane on-site. Food trucks require a Food Truck permit form Fire Prevention. Any open flame must be at least 20 feet from any tent.
