Instead of just asking for money, we are gathering local friends and artists to sell their work and make donations to their surgery fund. The event is going to be lightly funeral-themed, as a macabre but humorous nod to the grief and change involved in transitioning and the joy of gender affirming care and community. There will be several hours of music and vending, and then a more focused time where there will be some speakers and performances. Attendees: Max attendance at one time: 100 Total people attending: 250 Maximum attendees accommodated: 300 Total Somerville residents attending: 150 The event is Attendee fees or suggested donations: free with encouraged donation or purchases that benefit the fundraiser. $500 What is your budget for this event: Social or cultural benefits: Instead of directly asking community members for money, this event aims to show that community care and support is reciprocal by celebrating local artists and musicians at the same time as supporting a trans community member as they seek life-changing gender affirming care. Asking for help can be hard, and we hope that this event shows that it can also be a lot of fun. Financial benefits: Local artists and musicians are invited to sell their wares and collect donations. Yes The sidewalk along the North Western section of Prospect Hill Park (NW of Greenville Street) will have a couple of tables that are along the sidewalk, but not obstructing egress on the sidewalk. A stage will be set up on the NW side of the tower, though not preventing egress in front of the stage along the sidewalk.
