Resolution Field Line Painting — File 24-1463
WHEREAS:
The Department of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for the Maintenance
of public fields, including the painting of field lines; and
WHEREAS:
The scheduling of field line painting must consider weather conditions,
vendor availability, and adequate drying time to avoid disruption to
scheduled activities; and
WHEREAS:
A recent incident resulted in the cancellation of games due to wet paint on
the field, which could have been avoided with better communication and
planning; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED:
That the DPW shall notify the Parks & Recreation Department of any
scheduled field painting at least 48 hours in advance, providing details on
when the lines will be painted and the estimated drying time, considering
weather conditions; AND BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED:
That Parks & Recreation shall ensure that no permits are issued for field use
during the drying period, allowing adequate time for the lines to dry before
any activities are scheduled; AND BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED:
That in cases where the vendor’s availability may affect the schedule, DPW
and Parks & Recreation shall coordinate to minimize disruptions, ensuring
that alternative dates for painting are considered, particularly in inclement
weather and Parks & Recreation shall notify affected leagues, teams, and
permit holders of field availability updates due to maintenance or weather-
related delays; AND BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED:
That the City shall review this policy on an annual basis to ensure it
continues to meet the needs of the community and minimize disruptions to
public field use.
