CPC Funding Rec Nunziato Park — File 25-0056
COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION FOR
Nunziato Park Water Fountains
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The City of Somerville is looking to install two new water fountains at Nunziato Park, connecting to new
water lines that were installed during the utility project in the streets abutting the park. One fountain
will be located in the dog park area and the other will be adjacent to the field. The project will add
access to drinking water, which is identified as a priority need for open space and recreation as well as
climate resiliency. Nunziato field and the dog park are both actively used recreation spaces with high
sun exposure. The addition of water fountains will help to cool the park and provide a more user-
friendly environment.
ELIGIBILITY
Open Space/Recreation: This project would rehabilitate land for recreational use.
RECOMMENDATION
On December 11, 2024 by a vote of 8-0-0, the Community Preservation Committee recommended to
City Council that the City of Somerville OSPCD Division of Public Space and Urban Forestry be awarded
$200,000 of Community Preservation Act funds from the Open Space Reserve for the installation of
water fountains at Nunziato Park.
FUNDING CONDITIONS
The project will follow the General Conditions outlined in a Memorandum of Agreement with the
responsible department. No project-specific conditions apply to this project.
