COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION FOR Dilboy Auxiliary Fields Redesign – Supplemental Funding PROJECT DESCRIPTION Additional funds are requested to complete the renovation of the Dilboy Auxiliary Fields. This project, which received CPA funding for design in 2018, renovates the natural grass fields located at the western edge of the city next to Alewife Brook. In addition to amending the soil, the project will install drainage and irrigation, along with light towers and a drinking fountain. Construction was mostly funded by ARPA, but the timing resulted in the premature removal of contingency funds from the project budget before the last elements were completed. ELIGIBILITY Open Space/Recreation: This project would rehabilitate land for recreational use. RECOMMENDATION On February 27, 2025 by a vote of 7-1-0, with one member abstaining, the Community Preservation Committee recommended to City Council that the City of Somerville OSPCD Division of Public Space and Urban Forestry be awarded $100,000 of Community Preservation Act funds from the Open Space Reserve for renovation of the Dilboy Auxiliary Fields.
