RESOLUTION CALLING FOR JUSTICE — File 25-0571

RESOLUTION CALLING FOR JUSTICE, TRANSPARENCY, AND RENEWED INVESTIGATIVE EFFORTS INTO THE UNSOLVED MURDERS OF DEANNA CREMIN, CHARLINE ROSEMOND, AND OTHER VICTIMS IN SOMERVILLE WHEREAS: The City of Somerville is committed to justice, public safety, and supporting the families of victims of violent crime; and WHEREAS: The unsolved murders of Deanna Cremin and Charline Rosemond remain a source of pain and injustice for their families, friends, and the broader Somerville community; and WHEREAS: Deanna Cremin, a 17-year-old Somerville resident, was tragically murdered in 1995 and despite investigative efforts her case remains unsolved; and WHEREAS: Charline Rosemond was brutally murdered in Somerville in 2009 and her case also remains unsolved, leaving lingering questions and a lack of closure for her loved ones; and WHEREAS: Unresolved homicides have a lasting impact on victims’ families and can undermine public trust in law enforcement and the justice system; and WHEREAS: Advances in forensic science, DNA analysis, and investigative techniques present renewed opportunities to solve long-standing cold cases; and WHEREAS: Collaboration between the Somerville Police Department, the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police, and federal agencies such as the FBI can enhance investigative efforts and bring fresh attention to these cases; and WHEREAS: Community engagement, including monetary rewards, public awareness campaigns and anonymous tip lines, can play a critical role in generating new leads and encouraging witnesses to come forward; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Somerville City Council urges the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police to renew investigative efforts into the unsolved murders of Deanna Cremin, Charline Rosemond, and other victims, utilizing all available modern forensic and investigative resources; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council calls on the Middlesex District Attorney’s office for a public update on the status of these cases, while respecting the confidentiality of active investigations, to reaffirm the commitment to justice and transparency; and BE IT FURTHER

RESOLVED: That the City Council supports increased efforts on solving these and all other unsolved murders in Somerville; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City of Somerville stands in solidarity with the families of Deanna Cremin, Charline Rosemond, and all victims of unsolved homicides, committing to advocating for justice, closure, and accountability; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Clerk shall send a copy of this resolution to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
