Description:
Music Series - a series of concerts/festival events in
Somerville. We invite five to seven bands and/or artists to
perform for thirty minutes or less. The event takes place in
the afternoon, lasts for four to five hours, and finish by 7
PM. We will prioritize gender diverse artists that are based
in Somerville or the Boston area. As members of the
TLGBQ+ community ourselves, we strive to make open
minded, accepting, welcoming spaces for queer people
and everyone. With approved permits and licenses issued
by the City of Somerville, we have been able to put on
similar events each year since 2021. For FY2025, we were
awarded a Local Cultural Council grant through the

Social or cultural benefits:
The KLYAM Summer Series provides a space for
independent cultural expressions and social interactions
within the community. Local musicians are able to
showcase their unique talents and gain exposure to a
wider audience than usual. Members of the LGBTQ+
community, people of color, and other marginalized groups
have been represented through performance, welcomed,
and encouraged to be themselves. Additionally, the wide
age range of attendees brings a feeling of community.
Both performers and attendees are likely to experience
something new and different. The public parks are also
transformed into a novel use of space. Perfect for families
to see a live performance in the sunlight, an alternative to
the
more common night life experience.
Financial benefits:
In our previous park events, countless guests have made it
a point to take in all the sights and sounds of Somerville,
enriching local businesses - tourist sites, bars and
breweries, restaurants, and hotels.
