Event Name : 102nd Anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye – Flag Raising Ceremony
Describe the Event: A community ceremony commemorating the 102nd Anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye. Turkish and
American community members, students, and local officials will come together to celebrate the founding of the Republic,
raise the Turkish flag, and honor the shared values of democracy and friendship between Türkiye and the City of Somerville.
The ceremony will feature remarks from Didem Buner, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Boston, Mayor Katjana
Ballantyne of the City of Somerville (invited), and Nee Lortlar Ünlü, a distinguished member of the Turkish-American
community. The program will include the flag-raising ceremony and the performance of the Turkish National Anthem (stiklal
Mar).
