COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION FOR Elizabeth Peabody House FY26 Structural Stabilization PROJECT DESCRIPTION The Elizabeth Peabody House requests funds for further restoration of the landmark building at 277 Broadway from which the organization operates its programs to benefit children and families. The project will reinforce the second floor which lacks adequate load-bearing capacity by current building standards. The project will enable the second floor of the building to be used for its intended purpose as a community gathering place, enabling EPH to expand its community programs utilizing this space. ELIGIBILITY Historic Resources: This project would rehabilitate and preserve a historic building. RECOMMENDATION On 12/29/25 by a vote of 5-0, the Community Preservation Committee recommended to City Council that The Elizabeth Peabody House be awarded $420,566 of Community Preservation Act funds from the Historic Preservation Reserve to reinforce the second floor of its building at 277 Broadway, as described in their FY26 application. FUNDING CONDITIONS The project will follow the General Conditions outlined in a Grant Agreement between the City and the Grantee. No project-specific conditions apply to this project.
