CPC Funding Rec Somerville Museum FY24 2nd Off-cycle — File 23-1492
COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION FOR
Somerville Museum FY24 Storage Renovation Increased Funds #2
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
For the second time, the Somerville Museum requests additional funds to close a budget gap for the
CPA‐funded Collections Storage Renovation project. As the project nears completion, additional
change‐orders and an unforeseen requirement to restore basement‐level windows have resulted in
further increases in the cost of renovating the museum’s storage area, beyond previous CPA grants and
the funding they have been able to raise from other sources. A previous request for increased funds in
July of 2023 underestimated the full cost to close out the project. Somerville Museum has requested a
second round of additional CPA funds to complete the building renovations.
ELIGIBILITY
Historic Resources: This project would rehabilitate a historic building, enabling it to be used for its
intended purpose.
