Organization name: Somerville Alliance for Safe
Streets, Rt 16 Traffic Coalition
Event name: World Day of Remembrance for Road
Traffic Victims
Description: To take a moment to recognize
Somerville's residents who have been impacted by a
preventable traffic crash. We will use this event to bring
together groups from Somerville, Cambridge, Arlington,
and Medford to work collaboratively across our
community to prevent future crashes. We will discuss the
costs of failing to meet the need of this moment, that we
must continue to increase its education of drivers about
traffic safety, as well as prioritize redesigning our roads
to focus on traffic calming, pedestrian and bike safety,
and other engineering measures known to reduce
crashes.
Location: The green space between the Dilboy
basketball courts and the baseball field, but closer to the
basketball courts so we would be sure not to interrupt
