The Lion Dance at Somerville City Hall we plan to bring the Korean Senior Drumming Team and the Wah Lum Lion Dance Troupe to perform in Somerville. This performance will be open to the public and is a free event. As in years past we seek to present the blessings for a safe, healthy and prosperous Lunar New Year to all residents through Mayor Ballantyne, Rep. Erika Uyterhoeven, Councillor Will Mbah, and Councillor Naima Sait. Attendees from the public will receive lucky candy. Event is planned for 3/3/2024 (Snow date: 3/10/2024) front of City Hall. The drummers will play from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. The Lion Dance will commence immediately thereafter. We would ask for the attendance of Mayor Ballantyne, Rep. Erika Uyterhoeven, Councillor Will Mbah, and Councillor Naima Saitif. We also ask for their participation to take photos with the drummers and the Lion Dance team immediately after the event. This is the year of the green wood male dragon who appears every 60 years in the lunar cycle. Wood brings vitality and the green male dragon brings leaders who are strong, powerful, and charismatic to navigate challenges. This year is about getting stronger. It calls for new beginnings and living in harmony with nature.
