      COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION FOR   Somerville Museum FY24 Archives & Artifacts Preservation    PROJECT DESCRIPTION   The Somerville Museum requests funds for the preservation of specific assets in its collection to carry  out the following projects:  to undertake preventative conservation measures for archives housed in the  Museum’s document room, and the conservation of three historic paintings of notable Somerville  figures and their frames.    ELIGIBILITY  Historic Resources: This project would preserve and restore historic artifacts.  RECOMMENDATION  On February 28, 2024 by a vote of 8‐0, the Community Preservation Committee recommended  approval to City Council that Somerville Museum be awarded $10,000 of Community Preservation Act  funds to preserve artifacts in their collection, as described in their FY24 funding application from the  following account:  Category:  Historic Preservation  Recommended Funding Source  Amount  Somerville Museum FY24 Archives &  Artifacts Preservation  Historic Preservation Reserve  $10,000  Total  $10,000    FUNDING CONDITIONS  1. The CPA‐funded portion of the project must be initiated within three years unless extension is  granted by the CPC.   2. CPA funds will be used only for CPA eligible expenses.  3. The Somerville Museum will install a permanent sign noting CPA funding at the completion of  the project and a temporary sign during construction.  4.
