City of Somerville, Massachusetts City Council Housing and Community Development Committee Meeting Minutes 6:00 PM Wednesday, March 20, 2024 This meeting was held in the Committee Room and virtually via Zoom, was called to order at 6:01 pm by Chair Strezo, and adjourned at 7:21 pm with a roll call vote of two in favor (Councilor Clingan and Chair Strezo), none opposed, and one absent (Councilor Mbah). Approval of the Minutes of the Housing and Community Development Committee Meeting of February 28, 2024. By Councilor Strezo and Councilor Wilson That the Director of Parks and Recreation discuss how inclusive playground accessibility is being considered in future playground plans and redesign projects. By Councilor Mbah That the Director of Housing and the Director of the Office of Housing Stability report on the feasibility of fair housing enforcement. By Councilor Strezo That the Administration, in conjunction with the Housing and Water and Sewer Departments, provide optional, affordable, water utility assessments in low-income housing units and in benevolent landlord and subsidized landlord housing, whereby residents would pay their own water and sewer bills.
