PUBLIC EVENT/SPECIAL ALCOHOL LICENSE APPLICATION City of Somerville, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Application #: PEL24-000050 File #: 23-004675   Application for: Public Event Organization name: Friends of the Community Growing Center   Event name: Earth Day: Pollinators, Plantings and Possibilities Description: This event will provide educational and interactive art opportunities related to City initiatives such as the Climate Ambassadors, the Somerville Pollinator Action Plan and opportunities for residents to get engaged with caring for each other and the Earth. It is being organized in coordination with the City OSE, Groundwork Somerville and the Somerville Garden Club.   Location: The Somerville Community Growing Center is an 11,000 sq foot city owned public space that is managed by the Friends of the Community Growing Center as an educational and cultural gathering space for the community. In addition to demonstration and food production gardens, the space includes a stage area and room to offer free cultural and educational events. Date(s): Saturday, April 20 2-4pm   Rain date(s): Sunday, April 21, 2-4pm Setup starts at (time): 1pm   Event starts at (time): 2pm  Cleanup after the event ends at (time): 5pm   Event ends at (time): 4pm Entertainment: Two musicians will provide quiet background music. Temporary Structures: Pop up canopies will be utilized only if weather indicates; we use 40# weights on canopy legs for safety. Attendees:     Max attendance at one time: 50   Total people attending: 150     Maximum attendees accommodated: 200   Total Somerville residents attending: 125   Attendee fees or suggested donations: No fee.   What is your budget for this event: $200   Social or cultural benefits:  This event will be open and free to the public. Interpretation services for Spanish and Portuguese visitors are being arranged. Such events are an opportunity for coming together in community to experience nature in an urban setting.   Financial benefits:  Visitors are encouraged to explore the offerings of nearby Union Square!
