PorchFest brings together neighbors who rarely interact during
the year. It also shows off Somerville's musicians to residents
and non-residents.
Financial benefits:
People walk from street to street to see live music. Along the
way, they stop into shops to grab a snack or to enter a store
they haven't visited before.

The Somerville Arts Council takes the lead in promoting the
event throughout the city. In addition, individual musicians will
be promoting their own performances on social media.

Annually since 2011, except for 2020. This is the fourth time
we are seeking a license to have the street closed to traffic. We
asked for and received a license to have the street closed to
traffic in 2020, prior to the event's cancellation due to COVID.
We received licenses in 2022 & 2023 and the event on
Charnwood Rd proceeded without incident.

Use only easily moveable barriers to block the street. No obstructions allowed in the travel lane of the street. Emergency vehicles must have room to pass in event of
