We shut down Davis Square for craft vendors, two stages of music, dance in the Somerville Theater and host interactive activities for all ages. These year's theme is "Wild". We invite artists of all kinds, and community members to interpret the "wild" theme in myriad ways. ArtBeat takes place in the heart of Davis Location: Square. Davis Sq will be shut down to car traffic. We also have festivities happening in Statue Park, on Holland Ave, Seven Hills Park, Kenney Park and Elm street. Attendees: Max attendance at one time: 3,000 Total people attending: 9,000 Maximum attendees accommodated: 9000 Total Somerville residents attending: 7,000 free Attendee fees or suggested donations: 40,000 What is your budget for this event: Social or cultural benefits: ArtBeat is the city's largest arts and culture festival featuring over a dozen bands, dance troupes, craft vendors, activities for all ages and showcasing art in all formats. This gives opportunity for our local arts and culture to continue growing and to bring the community together. Financial benefits: ArtBeat being one of the city's most well known festivals, it successfully brings large crowds from all over into and through Davis Square directly supporting the businesses.
