Federal Realty and the gas and electric utility companies have agreed to work together in the process, however there is no indication of what incentives or monetary allotment would be provided by the utility companies. A key aspect of the process is having the utility companies involved in the design phase of the development. The deadline for the fall grants is November 19th and Chairman Taylor asked Mr. Lutes to inquire if the deadline could be extended. Chairman Taylor also requested that the committee be provided with the deadline for the Spring 2011 round of grants, should the program be available. Mr. Webster stated that the Stretch Energy Code would add 5 to 8% to their construction costs and added that they could receive energy credits for co-generation but not subsidies. Alderman Connolly’s motion that the Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Community Development meet with representatives from Federal Realty Investment Trust and the utility companies involved in Assembly Square, as necessary, on the Stretch Energy Code and report back to the Committee on Legislative Matters on or before February 1, 2010, was approved. Alderman Desmond’s motion that the Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Community Development consult an independent architectural firm (in Boston) that has
