190143 - Proposing an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance to modify Article 6
Establishment of Zoning Districts, Article 7 Permitted Uses, and Article 16 Planned Unit
Development, to allow Self-Storage Uses under certain conditions in the Assembly Square
Mixed Use District, and establish specific development standards for self-storage and
similar uses along I-93.:

Alderman Roche spoke in favor of the proposal and Mr. Wig Zamore discussed the issues he
views as key for the community. The proposal was amended by adding the language to deal with
signage and billboards.

190155 - Requesting approval of an Ordinance amending the Zoning Ordinance to modify
the parking requirements in Article 9 for the Large Retail and Service Cluster in the
Corridor Commercial Districts and Transit Oriented Districts.:

the definition of Home Occupation and Historic Outbuilding, and amend Article 7
Permitted Uses to create and allow a Historic Carriage House Occupation with identified
development standards in certain zoning districts.:

revising the review process for Special Permits, Special Permits with Site Plan Review, and
Variances.:

Mr. Proakis explained the reasoning for the proposal and told the members that passage would
allow the Planning Department to do other things. Alderman White had concerns that
neighborhood input might be reduced and he asked that an email be sent to all Aldermen asking
them to provide any input at this week's Board of Aldermen meeting, when this Committee
report will be acted on. A motion to approve the item failed on a tie vote of 1 in favor (Ald.
O'Donovan) to 1 against (Ald. White)
