15-25 Cross Street PARC Grant Order AMENDED — File 190643

CITY OF SOMERVILLE _________________ In Board of Aldermen ............................................ Whereas, the City of Somerville desires to create a new park in the neighborhood of Cross Street East and Broadway, close to the existing City’s Senior Center and Youth Center; and Whereas, the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, through its Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities (“PARC”) program, has awarded the City a $403,200 reimbursable grant (the “PARC Grant”) for the acquisition of a three contiguous parcels in common ownership at 15-25 Cross Street East; and Whereas, $403,200 of the PARC Grant will come from the Commonwealth with a local match requirement of $226,800; and Whereas it is a requirement of the grant that the acquisition property be dedicated to park and recreation purposes under M.G.L. c. 45, §14 immediately following acquisition; and Whereas, it is also a requirement of the grant that the City appropriate funds for the entire cost of the acquisition, specifying the source of the municipal funds; Now therefore, it is ORDERED: That the City of Somerville Board of Aldermen hereby accepts the PARC Grant in the amount of Four Hundred and Three Thousand, Two Hundred Dollars ($403,200) for the acquisition of 15-25 Cross Street East; agrees to dedicate said acquisition property to park and recreation purposes in perpetuity immediately following the acquisition of title; and authorizes Six Hundred and Thirty Thousand Dollars ($630,000) to come from the City’s Assembly Square Stabilization Fund, for a total project budget of Six Hundred and Thirty Thousand Dollars ($630,000), of which $403,200 is reimbursable to the City after the City initially incurs the costs;

and authorizes the Mayor to execute all documents and take all actions necessary to carry out the terms, purposes, and conditions of the PARC Grant. __________________________ John M. Connolly, President Board of Aldermen
