Desmond Alderman At Large Absent Robert May OSPCD Present David Shapiro Assistant City Solicitor Present Brandon Wilson OSPCD Present Ed Bean Director of Finance Present Stephen Mackey Chamber of Commerce Present 187978 - Requesting Approval of an Ordinance Regarding Weeds, Grass and Overgrowth.: RESULT: PLACED ON FILE 189286 - Ordinance Amending the Local Historic District Map to Create Five (5) New Districts (East Somerville, Hinckley-Magoun, Orchard Street, Prospect Hill, and Union Square) and Add Seventeen (17) Properties to These Districts, and to Add Five (5) Properties to Central-Atherton-Spring-Summer (CASS) District (Group C): Mr. May spoke about the Historic Preservation Commission’s recommendations and Chairman Taylor suggested that the Commission reach out to those homeowners who may need more time or information to make a decision, so that they are fully aware of the process and of their responsibilities once their property is designated. Alderman Connolly requested that OSPCD provide the committee with a map showing what properties are, and are not, eligible for CDBG funding. Ms. Wilson told the members that each of the designations was agreed to by the Mass Historical Commission. Alderman Gewirtz’s motion to approve the properties discussed in Group C unless the ward aldermen do not want the designation and furthermore hold off on any property where owners have expressly stated they do not want designation so that the ward aldermen can have the opportunity to discuss with them the advantages of historic designation, was approved.

Committee Meeting December 14, 2010 Legislative Matters Committee Page 2 of 2 Printed 12/16/2010 Alderman Connolly’s motion to have Mr. May/OSPCD email the list of all properties recommended by the Legislative Matters Committee to all members of the Board of Aldermen so that Ward Aldermen could be informed of the action taken by the Committee, especially with regard to properties where there was no owner response, was approved. RESULT: APPROVED AS AMENDED
