RESULT: APPROVED AS AMENDED

Committee Meeting March 8, 2011 Legislative Matters Committee Page 2 of 2 Printed 3/10/2011 190730 - 51 Registered Voters submitting a petition for a public hearing on KSS Realty Partners and the use of union labor at the MaxPac site.: Chairman Taylor read a letter from Mr. Ted Tobin, of KSS, into the record. Mr. Wright and Mr. Buckley spoke on the matter and informed the committee that the covenant in question was the result of a series of neighborhood meetings regarding the project's zoning requirements. KSS is encouraged to hire union labor, but they are not bound to do so. There was a discussion about how public grants impact the hiring process and the committee was informed that if there are any private funds used in the project, the developer cannot be compelled to hire union labor. (Mr. Buckley will provide the committee with a written opinion next week.) RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 190758 - That this Board amends Ordinance Section 2-355, aka The Responsible Employer Ordinance, as noted within. (see attachment): RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 190913 - That the City Solicitor appear before this Board’s Committee on Legislative Matters to discuss whether KSS has breached its covenant with the city, and if so, to take action to revoke their permits.: RESULT: WORK COMPLETED
